Castro Theatre tickets & upcoming events

Looking for a true San Francisco icon that feels like stepping back into Hollywood's golden age? The Castro Theatre is that place. This historic gem has been a beloved landmark since opening in 1922, with its stunning marquee and ornate interior that just scream old-school glamour. It’s not just about the looks, this theater packs a punch with its unique programming, from classic film screenings with live organ music to special celebrations for legendary movies like Casablanca or Star Wars anniversaries. I mean, there’s something about catching a vintage flick in those velvet seats, surrounded by the chatter of fellow film buffs, that just hits different. During special events, sometimes they even turn the balcony into a little VIP area, which is pretty cool if you want a bit of luxury. And yeah, the place adapts too, during the pandemic, they set up outdoor screenings that felt like a breath of fresh air. Whether you're a film geek or just in it for the fun atmosphere, catching a show here is a must. Oh, and if you’re coming via public transport, the nearby BART station makes it super easy to get there without the hassle of parking. Trust me, it’s more than a theater, it’s a San Francisco experience you won’t forget.
